Welcome to our Transition page

Dear Parent/Carer

First of all, thank you for visiting our Selston High School transition page. We know that the transition process can be exciting and intriguing for some, yet a worrying and nervous time for others. This page; the video’s and support offered here, is intended to support your child and yourselves as a parents/carers with the transition from Year 6 in to Year 7 here at Selston High School.

We can’t wait for your son/daughter to join us in September and to welcome them into a ‘good’ school were staff work extremely hard to support all students. We pride ourselves on having positive relationships with students and parents alike and hope that you will support us in allowing a calm yet challenging environment for your child’s learning to thrive. I, myself, love visiting your child in their primary school setting to get to know them before they join us and feeding back all the positives from each of the respective local primaries in which your child joins us from. This year may be slightly different with the current pandemic, but nevertheless, we hope that through engagement now, we can still get to know your child before their arrival in September, albeit virtually.

Please use the tabs on the left hand side to navigate your way through some of the most asked information. If you can’t find the answer you are looking for- please click to ‘contact us’ and by inputting ‘transition’ into the subject, yours or your child’s questions will find their way to myself, in which I am more than happy to answer as many as you would like. As well as this, I am contactable on the following email address:

Our transition process is supported through Open Evenings, Induction Evening, Induction Days, Transition Visits (both here and at your child’s primary) and Tutor Contacts, all of which take place every year. You will find the relevant information for all of these key dates on this page as and when they are due to take place.

On behalf of every member of staff in school, we look forward to meeting your child and supporting them over their next 5 years at Selston High School.
